Old Lang Syne
End of the year random fact, Old Lang Syne is one of my favorite songs quite randomly I realize, right along with that one they play at graduation. I’m a little weird like that.
This has been a pretty good year. Not without it’s struggles of course but really what year isn’t. Our little family is doing well. Emerson still isn’t walking but much like crawling it’s...
Christmas Worldwind
We survived. It was a lovely Christmas despite one little person who had a double ear infection, sinus infection, teething and a cold—not to mention the fact that she never really slept through the night thanks to being in the pack-n-play. Now Emerson and I are home and Matt and Archie are on their way. And that’s all I have to say about that-whew!

She Doesn't Sleep Like A Baby Anymore
This morning I walked in to wake Emerson up and I noticed again what I had thought earlier in the week was just a fluke. My sweet girl was asleep on her belly, hands tucked under her thighs but instead of her little booty raised high in the air she was flat on her stomach. I stared at her and couldn’t help but think what a toddler she looks like.

Dear Emerson,
Sweet girl you had QUITE the weekend let me tell you. It started Friday night. Zulee kept you all as a gift to the parents for “date night”, but we all ending up picking you guys up by 8pm. What can we say we’re a little nuts.
Saturday we saw Santa (you did A-mazing), celebrated Jackson’s first birthday and then headed to the National Christmas...
Daddy's Home
Last night Emerson and I came home, played, ate dinner, took a tubbie and got ready for bed. “Daddy will be here when you wake up” I kept saying. She in turn kept asking “Daddy? Daddy?” I’m assuming that’s her way of asking where Daddy is.
I put Em to bed, and was a little restless. Matt likes order, and after being gone all weeK wanted him to have a clean...
Tough Day
Today marked day 4 of 5 as a single parent. Today also happened to be the first day I cracked….and boy did I crack.
Actually, I don’t really think most people would ever know. But for me? For me it was a killer. It was particularly hard because I know that Matt is on his own for a week at a time while I’m on the road. The difference of course is that I have bad habit of...

If I Could Do It Again
This weekend Matt, Emerson and I went to look at big girl car seats. After traveling to MD and back to VA we ended up at Buy Buy Baby. Turns out, it’s where we should’ve started (and probably where we should have registered). Wow is all I can say. Anyway, Lisa ended up to be uber helpful talking us through all of the different options that would fit Emerson, our cars, our lifestyle...

What's in a Zip Code
When I moved here in the fall of 2000, it was only a matter of time before before I left this place, moved back below the Mason Dixon where I belonged.
Fast forward to to 2006. Matt and I met, and together we planned our escape. Matt even had an interview with a firm in Nashville. They wanted to fly us both down, because as his (soon to be) wife they wanted to be sure I’d be happy as...
Should've Seen That Coming
Emreson’s been sick. She started with a runny nose, and by Sunday night we realized she had a fever. A tepid bath and some Tylenol and we were able to get it down a bit without issue. The doctor confirmed it’s nothing more than a cold, and even the fever at it’s highest (102.3) was not that bad respecitvly when it comes to babies….err toddlers….whatever the hell...

Mama's bitter
I’ve written her one year post….twice. Tumblr’s eaten it…..twice. I’ll get to it eventually
